Fuji Steakhouse - Middletown, NY
With a vacant tenant space as a blank canvas, Sloan Architects was commissioned to create a modern twist on a Japanese hibachi style steakhouse restaurant, located in Middletown , New York. By balancing clean lines and bold colors with traditional forms and textures, Sloan Architects was able to produce three unique dining experiences in one space. The main entry torii gate leads diners through a light-filled lobby flanked by rippled copper wall panels which opens to the centrally located sushi bar. Strategically placed lighting gives the illusion of a floating bar summoning diners into the main hibachi dining area. Custom wood slatted screens offer visual buffers throughout the dining area, allowing for more intimate spaces within the whole. A translucent shoji screen storefront system separates the liveliness of hibachi style dining with the mall concourse beyond allowing passersby a glimpse of Fuji’s exciting dining experience.
