Student Residences at Anderson Center for Autism - Staatsburg, NY

The architectural design challenge for this residential campus is to create a home-like environment for the children who live and learn at the Center. Extensive site renovation of this +/- 104 acre, nearly 100 year-old community includes both adaptive re-use of classic stone buildings typical of the Hudson Valley Hyde Park area, seen at the home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and new construction, to create a neighborhood full of footpaths, common green space, a recreation center, and a village center. 

Institutional dormitories with outdated systems have been demolished in phases, to minimize campus disruption and make way for new homes in the shingle-inspired style that promote family living for student residents and staff.
