IBM Center: Bright Horizons - Poughkeepsie, NY

Located on the property of IBM’s Casperkill Country Club in Poughkeepsie, New York, this +/-10,500 square-foot center has been designed to compliment the surrounding landscape.  Nestled in a woodland environment this corporate sponsored childcare center has been modeled to invoke the feeling of an old time country schoolhouse.  The center is accompanied by a +/-10,000 square-foot outdoor playground.  This outdoor play facility is subdivided by age group with age appropriate play equipment to compliment the children’s varied developmental stages.

The typical childcare facility groups children together by age level alone. The interior of this 136 child capacity building, however, has been designed to incorporate a “family-style grouping” concept in each wing.  This “family-style” model includes adjacent classrooms of progressive age groups on each wing.  This approach offers children a glimpse of where they will be moving up to, allowing for smoother transitions from year to year.
