Mashomack Preserve Club - Pine Plains, NY
Nestled in Dutchess County beneath Stissing Mountain and adjacent to Halcyon Lake lies the Mashomack Preserve Club. Run as a private sporting preserve and social club and surrounded by fields and woods, this facility is host to several annual events, each drawing hundreds of guests, which in turn prompted the members to request a much needed renovation and addition. Special care was taken to follow the tradition of connected farm buildings in the New England style, allowing the club to retain it’s distinctiveness while incorporating old with the new.
A main entrance was established by building a classical pediment and portico with Tuscan columns to reflect upon the home’s Greek revival roots. A dark enclosed porch was demolished to make way for an outdoor gathering space with lake views. The new gallery dining room is both intimate and expansive, graced by it’s antique walnut bar and reclaimed carved paneling as well as a wood burning fireplace. Multiple French doors allow for the room to be opened to the fresh night air or afternoon sunlight.
