Trevor Zoo Infirmary - Millbrook, NY

The Millbrook School’s Trevor Zoo is the only such institute in the area.  With a variety of animals in ever growing numbers, it is important that they not become over crowded, especially when they are in need of special care in the infirmary.  To cope with this concern, an addition was needed and created to provide optimal health care for the zoo animals.  

The architecture of the infirmary is a rich composition of forms and functions.  From recreating the barn imagery of small glass stall windows at the animal holding cages, to incorporating the timber posts used throughout the zoo as colossal columns supporting the deck and roof, the design resulted in a simple, yet elegant building which continues to have a dialog with the zoo surroundings.
